Cynthia Rebong
Registered Midwife, Yoga & Pilates Instructor

I am a full-time Registered Midwife at West End Midwives. It's been about 13 years that I have enjoyed delivering babies, since receiving my BHSc Health Sciences in Midwifery degree from Ryerson University in 2008. Prior to becoming a midwife, I completed a BA in Bioethics & Women's Studies at the University of Toronto and had started a Master's program in Environmental Studies at York University.

I found my yoga roots in the community at Moksha Yoga North York & Thornhill. Through my yoga practice I am able to find grounding, resilience, joy and acceptance. I received my yoga instructor training in hatha, vinyasa and restorative, through the Ahimsa Yoga Centre Toronto and have done additional training in prenatal & postnatal yoga through Mindfulmamas Yoga and Yoga Sanctuary.
Through completing a modern mat pilates instructor training at MuseMovement, I am able to fuse my prenatal movement classes with the benefits of both yoga and pilates. I love to learn and have attended a number of workshops on topics such as the pelvic floor and mobility, strength & biomechanics in relation to yoga and movement practices. I have also received training in craniosacral therapy, through the Toronto Cranial Therapy Centre.

Other ways that teaching shows up in my life, is through working as a midwife, involved in the clinical precepting of midwifery students, medical students/residents and students of naturopathic medicine. I'm also an instructor/assessor of emergency obstetrical skills for the Association of Ontario Midwives and Ryerson University.

I love creative movement and the intricacies of the body, especially in relation to pregnancy and birth and look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion with participants. My classes are a creative fusion of yoga, pilates and conditioning exercises and movements that are appropriate and beneficial to the pregnant and postpartum body.   Through both midwifery and teaching movement, I find fulfillment through my connection to community, by supporting and uplifting others in their paths toward finding freedom and happiness in their everyday lives.

When not attending births or enjoying time on my mat, I enjoy the company of my family and 3 children: an artist, an academic and a superhero!
